UNDERWATER VIDEOGRAPHER

  1. • Keller has shot thousands of hours of underwater video on the Kona coast of Hawaii.

  2. • Divers and snorkelers have been purchasing custom-made video and DVD from Keller since 1994.

  3. • Keller has also sold and provided stock footage for several television and film productions.  These include:

  1. • Issued over 270 Manta Ray Diver certifications

  2. • Issued over 460 scuba certifications

  3. • Conducted over 470 introductory programs                           

  4. • Has worked at Jack’s Diving Locker in Kona,    

  Hawaii since 1991  


MANTA RAY RESEARCHER

  1. • Began naming, cataloging, and collecting    

  nightly sighting data of Kona manta rays in 1991

  1. • Co-founded of Manta Pacific Research

  Foundation (MPRF) in 2002 based on his own

  manta data.

  1. • Supplied ID data for 2002 tracking study

  2. • Collects nightly manta data for Foundation

  3. • Foundation currently has 175 manta rays identified on the Kona Coast with over 3000 sighting data entries with over 10,000 individual mantas sighted. 

  4. • MPRF instrumental in gaining manta protection in State of Hawaii in 2009.

  5. •Keller is the current President of MPRF

    Keller Laros, a.k.a. Manta Man, is the foremost expert on the manta ray population of Kona, Hawaii.  Laros was able to combine his career as professional scuba instructor and underwater videographer with manta ray research.


    Keller is a charismatic individual who is passionate about what he does.  If you’ve ever gone diving with Keller, you know this to be true.
